Becoming Myself. Kind of a weird concept right? I mean, I’m already me, so why would I need to become that? The name comes from the title Stasi Eldredge’s newest book, which I read this past summer, and I absolutely its core message: the more God’s we become, the ourselves we become. Ironic, but beautifully true. The more we get to know who God is, the more we encounter His love. This is a love that confronts us with our own stories and allows us to understand them in a deeper way. It’s a love that gently leads us into our places of hurt and brings healing. It’s a love which exposes the lies and shame that constrict us, and grants us freedom from our fears. It resurfaces those passions and desires that have always been written on our hearts, and gives us the courage to pursue them. God’s love allows us to experience life more fully—life abundantly. God is unveiling who we truly are, and giving us the freedom and power to step actively into that.
