The way I see it, a good Disney movie shares two key commonalities with a good friendship: it offers lessons that shape you into a better person, and it gives you all the warm-fuzzies.
My friendship with Kenna does both of those things, and so much more. We met in children’s church when we were six years old, dominated at four square every single day during lunch break in sixth grade, consumed an abundance of Taco Bell burritos and Jonas Brother’s music throughout high school, and come Saturday, I’ll stand by her side as she says “I do” to her very own Prince Charming.
Over the years we’ve shared clothes, too many heart-to-hearts to count, and yes, even crushes. Kenna is one of those friends you can be your truest, weirdest self with, and our friendship is one that can withstand it all. There’s something special about a friend who has seen you through all of life’s changes, one who has loved you at your best and at your worst—and that’s Kenna. No matter what we’ve gone through, we’ve always come out stronger, and our friendship has made me a better person.
In high school especially, Kenna and I shared a love for all things Disney Channel (Hannah Montana, anyone?), and some of my favorite memories with her were made on youth group trips to Disneyland. That being said, when she decided to have her bachelorette party this past weekend at Disneyland, it was not only fitting, it brought us full circle. We all had so much fun riding the rides and belting Disney oldies on the car ride home. In honor of Kenna tying the knot in four days and our time at the happiest place on earth, I figured I’d share some of my favorite Disney movie quotes—some hidden treasures tucked away between “Once Upon a Time” and “Happily Ever After.” More than just feel-good, they offer important (and some, surprisingly Scriptural) messages. May they (see what I did there? because yesterday was the first day of May? ) put some pep in your step and wonder in your heart as you go about your week.
Did your favorite Disney quote make the list? If not, let me know what it is in the comments. To Kenna, you are going to make a beautiful bride in a few short days, and an even more wonderful wife to Erik. I can’t wait to stand by you as you begin your very own Happily Ever After!
